The following survey is intended to gather information about mariner interest in an ONLINE Able Seaman (domestic) course offered through The Seafarer Collective and Bluewater Safety LLC.
This online, distance learning course will prepare students to meet the exam requirements for any endorsement as Able Seaman, as well as meet the exam requirements of Lifeboatman / PSC - Limited (Practical Assessments are required but not included in this course). Students would be required to take exams at an approved location in the presence of an exam proctor. Course certificates will be issued that can be submitted to the NMC in lieu of sitting for exams at a Regional Exam Center.
An Able Seaman classroom-based course runs about $875 and up, while Lifeboatman is $900+ and Lifeboatman-Limited is $360+. TSC and Bluewater Safety are collaborating to change the cost of entry-level mariner training.
