"How do I get a Merchant Mariner Credential?"
- said every mariner at the beginning of their career
Nobody was born knowing the ins and outs of what it takes to get their first MMC, let alone how to navigate the many wonders of the National Maritime Center. The Seafarer Collective has put together a self-paced online instructional course for new mariners to utilize as they begin to explore their professional development pathway.
Applying for your Merchant Mariner Credential requires additional tasks beyond just sending in an application (eg. TWIC, USCG physical, Drug Test) and there are financial investments every time you engage with the National Maritime Center. Our goal in this course is to educate students on the requirements of the application process, and also share general information that is relevant to mariners at the beginning of their careers.
In "Learn How To Get Your Merchant Mariner Credential" students will explore:
Getting your Ordinary Seaman (OS) Credential
Marlinspike Seamanship
Deckhand Duties
Electronic Communication
Navigation Equipment
Electrical Systems
